DevOps Engineer – £55k

I am looking for a DevOps engineer to join my clients existing team and help them roll out, monitor, scale and optimise their systems.

Working with support lead, the backend development team and system administrator you’ll ensure that developers can start working on new projects quickly, environments can be spun up and torn down with ease, and deployments to production are quick, smooth and reliable. On running systems you’ll know where the bottlenecks are and how to squeeze a bit more performance out of our infrastructure, and how to keep systems up and running under load.
We have teams working on front end web, iOS, and Android and routinely work in tight cross-disciplinary teams to share knowledge and skills across a range of technologies irrespective of coding background.

  • Design, set up and maintain deployment systems
  • Design, set up and interrogate system monitoring
  • Improve and optimise existing system infrastructure
  • Implement best-practice access control and system security
  • Work with development teams to identify and resolve uptime, performance and scalability issues
  • Communicate with multi-disciplinary internal and external teams
  • Take ownership of problems and get stuff done
  • Stay up to date with the latest technology developments and be prepared to present them internally and to clients

REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrable investigative and problem solving skills
  • Amazon Web Services (especially EC2 & RDS)
  • At least one scripting or system orchestration language
  • Linux (preferably Ubuntu)
  • Relational database admin (preferably PostgreSQL)
  • Some knowledge of TCP/IP Networking
  • Working iteratively with regular delivery (especially continuous delivery)
  • Git (or another DVCS)

 

Would be great if you knew about these:?

  • Vagrant (or other virtual machine tools)
  • Jenkins (or other continuous integration tools)

Systems Administrator – London

I am seeking a systems administrator to help deploy and maintain my clients infrastructure.

It requires someone who can combine experience in sys admin and automation along with the desire to develop new skills.

The Role:

  • Provision new AWS infrastructure as required by developers to host new applications services.
  • Install and configure servers and server software on Linux (Ubuntu), particularly Apache, MySQL and PHP
  • Automate installation (particularly Chef and Puppet)
  • Work with developers to ensure new features are osted
  • Diagnose and fix problems
  • Support the CTO in improving change management process

 

You:

  • Hands-on experience with AWS
  • Have some knowledge of other standard server software such as Postfix, Dovecot, Apache Tomcat
  • Have experience with SCM systems such as GIT or SVN
  • Full job spec available.

Ruby on Rails developer – London

I am looking for a Ruby on Rails Developer to join a small tech team and contribute to the success of the business. The role will involve developing our builder (authoring) & trafficker (distribution) tools from a back end perspective.

Key Requirements

Although not essential, you will have experience in the industry with either a publisher, creative agency or media agency background.

The role requirements are;

• One to three years general programming experience

• Proven experience in web development using the Ruby on Rails web application framework

• At least two years Ruby on Rails programming experience

• Thorough understanding of the philosophy and design of Ruby on Rails

• Desktop publishing skills: HTML, xHTML, CSS

• Knowledge of:

• JavaScript and JavaScript libraries: jQuery, MooTools, Prototype, etc.

• Unix and Linux systems

• Relational databases: Postgres, etc.

• Frameworks: Active record, Merb, Datamapper

• Technologies: Mootools, Lucene, Solr

• Servers: Ubuntu, Montgrel, Webrick, Apache

• Highly preferred experience:

• Ability to work with the Rackspace, Amazon EC2, S3, Heroku, and EBS services

• Cookbook, Capistrano and Chef

• NoSQL databases: MongoDB & Redis

• Git, SVN

• BSc in a computer science-related discipline

• Proactive and resourceful person who achieves with minimal oversight

• Team player with the ability and desire to become an integral part of a fast-paced team
